I kept these quite simple as the main focus is the capitalized name. Sometimes less is more, and I experimented with different colour variations; however I'd like to add a different colour into my self branding instead of just using black and white.
Here I added some colour other than black/white. I tried branching out from the hand rendered name, and tried it in Didot. I captured the 'collage' effect with the ripped paper but I don't think this really works as a business card and the name looks too elegant for my liking.
I then tried the same thing as I did at first but with a different version of my hand rendered type. I also tried out layering different colours behind the white. I think the red and the green looks a bit like Christmas though. I much prefer the purple and the green.
And here I tried out a lowercase version, I like how the counters of the e,d and a are filled in, as this was actually done by accident because of the thickness of my paintbrush.
Then I tried to fill the card with the logo to represent Medusa's 'hair', but I'm unsure if it really works for the front of the card. It was more successful as the back of the card however the type I used on this design isn't very legible.
I tried out just using the hand rendered 'M' as the logo however I felt this did not represent my brand name and so is not as successful as the snake, although it does look minimal and works well visually.
This will be my final design as it combines the hand rendered brand name and the logo successfully without looking too busy. I'm still unsure on whether to pick the white or the black but after this decision is made the next step is to use this and expand on it, perhaps mock up some collateral.
