Firstly we visited the Hepworth, an art gallery in Wakefield showcasing a lot of contemporary art. The Hepworth's name is taken from Barbara Hepworth. The gallery was very grey, minimal and sleek. The exhibitions were spacious and sparse. The aesthetic for the entire gallery was very consistent. Although I'm very interested in looking around galleries, I just don't fully appreciate some sculptures as much as others, and unfortunately 75% of the exhibitions were sculptures that were quite boring and plain in my opinion. There was a few that caught my eye, for example the one below of Jesus, simply because it looked very strange and eerie, it didn't really make any sense. I think I would have enjoyed the visit if there was more odd sculptures and exhibitions, for example a favourite of mine is the Saatchi, and the Hepworth just wasn't on the same level for me.
