Using the answers given by Tyler Spangler, the most appropriate way to display them was in a publication focusing on Tyler, his work and the questions & answers.
Tyler's work is colourful, vibrant and spontaneous - it was important to capture the essence of his style through my own publication. This was communicated through use of colour, shape and text.
The pink tone was consistently used throughout. To keep within a theme, I modified some of the images and set them to a duo tone, as since this is a printed publication, there would be limitations to the inks that would be printed. Tyler’s work is usually in RGB mode and designed for his website, therefore it is screen based, which would not be appropriate for printing as I had to ensure it was all compatible for CMYK. Even though the publication did not feature his more colourful work, I feel it still captured his personality appropriately through shape and layout.
A grid or structure was not used for this publication, again to accentuate the spontaneous aesthetic, as Tyler Spangler’s work does not seem to include order or reasoning - it is simply digital art that he has created on his own terms.
The iMessage style composition within the booklet provides a contemporary method of displaying the interview, which is current as instant messaging is the most popular way to communicate in society today. Using pink bubbles for Tyler’s messages fit with the overall aesthetic of the publication and allowed him to appear as the one receiving messages from me (grey).
Alongside the interview, I included information taken from Tyler’s Behance page to give the audience background information alongside the report. This also allowed me to fit more pages into the publication to make it more substantial.
I also thought it beneficial to include a spread about what I as a designer have got from this interview, as this was a key factor to the brief - to make connections and communicate, taking the knowledge and tips from the industry professional to develop as a designer.
